Koichi MITSUOKA
Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1990, lives in Tokyo.
Graduated from the oil painting department at Tokyo University of the Arts.
My grandfather chose the kanji for my name because they were symmetrical, and my mother added the pronunciation. (She could have called me Yukikazu instead.)
I set my sights on going to art school based solely on my desire to make a promotional video for Utada Hikaru, but I was only accepted to the architecture department. After a series of other events, I can now call myself an artist. As with Yano Akiko’s singing, and Ranjatai’s comedy, I just want to create something myself. That’s what I have always said, but recently I realized that I’m more of a finder than a creator. When I find something good, I want to tell people about it. The comedian I’m interested in lately is Gosuke. I listen to the Yapoos on my way home from my part-time job, and I wash the dishes and the bathtub while I listen to the radio.
