Masaaki OTA
Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1987, lives in Kanagawa Prefecture.
Completed a postgraduate degree at Tokyo University of the Arts.
With wood as my primary material, I make the most of my specialized woodworking knowledge and skills to create my artwork. By developing wooden tools based on a new perspective and sense of value, I pursue a novel approach combined with a sense of déjà vu. As a tree made of natural materials should have a once-in-a-lifetime quality, I myself am always anticipating what might emerge as my hands make contact with my materials.
