Born 1981 in Date city, Hokkaido, Live in Tokyo.
In 2006, graduated from the Department of Sculpture at Musashino Art University.
Born in 1981 in Date City, Hokkaido, this artist is interested in the relationship between urban spaces and humans. To help people connect with urban spaces on a spiritual level, they create and install sculpture works in public spaces. Some of their notable works include "Happy Monkey Avenue" at the entrance to the Houdo Inari Shrine in Ginza 4-chome (2016, Ginza), the symbolic artwork "YOUwe." on the climbing wall at MIYASHITA PARK SHIBUYA (2020, Shibuya), and a large-scale sculpture "Find Our Happiness" (2021, Zhongshan, China) standing at 5.7 meters tall.
※WA!moto. is the brainchild of Motoka Watanabe. Working with the keyword "human scale," WA!moto. aims to connect people, spaces, environments, cultures, and generations, creating an invisible public realm.
