Tatzu NISHI
He began his career in Europe in 1997, abandoning the narrow art scene of museums and galleries and installing his works outdoors, with the assumption that his audience was “ordinary people who usually weren’t so interested in art.” “The expansion of human imagination” is the purpose behind his art, with “laughter, violence, and sexiness” as his weapons.
He is known worldwide for his bold and adventurous projects that involve people in public spaces, such as building rooms that incorporate outdoor monuments and streetlights and then opening them to the public as living rooms or even operating them as hotels.
He is currently based in Tokyo and Berlin.
