Sho TSUCHIDA

Born in 1997 in Fukushima, lives in Yamagata
Completed the Master`s Program of Tohoku University of Art & Design, Graduate School, Complex Art Field, in 2022.

Painter/artist Born in 1997 in Fukushima City, Fukushima. Graduated from the Tohoku University of Art & Design, Graduate School of Complex Art Field, in 2022. His activities are based in the Tohoku region. He works on his productions while obtaining a real sense of his subjects through onsite investigations. Based on his research of Japanese painter Hitoshi KOMATSU, he has developed his own theory of painting and created an expressive style in which multiple media and bodies intertwine.

Major awards include “Art Award Tokyo Marunouchi 2020” Tomio Koyama Prize (Kokusai Building, Tokyo, 2020), “Gunma Biennale for Young Artists 2021” Selected Prize (The Museum of Modern Art, Gunma, 2021), “8th The Triennial Competition in Toyohashi Hoshino Shingo Prize Exhibition” Selected Prize (Toyohashi City Museum Art and History, Aichi, 2021), “Art Award Tokyo Marunouchi 2022” Shigeo Goto Prize (Marunouchi Oazo 1F OO Square, Tokyo, 2022), etc.

Major exhibitions include Sho TSUCHIDA’s solo exhibition “Home Base” (OOMACHI GALLERY, Fukushima, 2023) and “Amadare 2023” (Galerie Suiran, Gunma, 2023).
