Russell Maurice is a UK-born, Japan-based artist. He began his career as part of the first generation of UK Graffiti and founded the brand Gasius in 1993. His work has been exhibited at museums and art centers across Europe, and he has been selected for New Contemporaries, a historic open-submission exhibition founded in the UK in 1949, as well as for the Somerset House Studios residency programme, a selective, London-based cultural initiative. Drawing on a deep interest in natural science and animation, his practice explores a unique expression that bridges street culture and contemporary art through an animistic perspective.
