CHU Chih-Kang

CHU Chih-Kang
Born 1976 in Tainan, live in Kaousiung, Taiwan
2007 Shih Chien University, Faculty of Design, Product and Architecture Department, Master Degree.
Founder of Yuguan Culture & Chu Chih-Kang Space Design
CHU Chih-Kang works across art and design, integrating modern perspectives with Eastern cultural roots. His work has received recognition from various international design awards and has been exhibited in Venice during both the Architecture and Art Biennales.
His approach prioritizes "authenticity" over "style." By focusing on the fundamental purpose of a space and addressing its functional needs, he allows each environment to develop its own character. He seeks to evoke collective memories and create emotional resonance through subtle spatial atmospheres.
One of his notable projects, Fangsuo Bookstore in Chengdu, received several honors including the German Design Award for its spatial quality. In 2018, he established Wuguan Books in Kaohsiung, a project exploring psychological experiences through light and shadow. This bookstore was included in Buzz Feed’s "21 Must-Visit Bookstores in Asia" and has been covered by CNN Travel and other media. Through his observations of human context, CHU aims to create spaces that connect with people on a sincere level.
