Sculptor. He works primarily with figurative sculptures in ceramic and FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic). He explores the juxtaposition of the human figure and the spaces they inhabit, paying close attention to the meanings inherent in materials and the characteristics of specific sites. These situations are shaped by layers of his personal memories, present circumstances, and vague aspirations toward the future. They also intersect with the places where the works are installed and with the worlds inhabited by their viewers. In this way, he invites audiences to engage with the works much as they engage with other people—forming understandings through observation, interpretation, and, inevitably, misunderstanding. In recent years, he has also incorporated plants and AR (Augmented Reality) into exhibitions, continuing to explore and expand the possibilities of sculpture.
