NODA Mitsuru
Born 1985 in Kobe, live in Osaka/AWAJI Island
2016 Ph.D. in Architecture, Graduate School of Creative Science and Engineering, Waseda University
After studying architecture at university, he worked in research, education, and field-based support related to community design and urban development.
Research and practical projects grounded in meticulous fieldwork have received numerous awards, including the Architectural Institute of Japan (AIJ) Education Award (2024) and the AIJ Encouragement Prize (2017).
Seeking to express the self-reflection and social critique underlying these activities, he subsequently began an artistic practice.
Drawing on a deep understanding of local contexts, forms, and communities, he develops relational and often cynical works that engage both the social and material dimensions of place.
In parallel with this practice, he has recently been conducting research into the tangible and intangible legacies that art events and festivals leave behind in local communities.
