I paint extremely abstracted ‘landscape painting’, focusing only on the single point of ‘extracting colour from the landscape’. This is a work that raises questions about the way we view landscapes in today’s IT-enabled society, and aims to provide an opportunity to realise the essence of ‘landscapes’, which can now be easily recorded and viewed by anyone, while moving between the boundaries of real and abstract, analogue and digital.
Traces of thought in mixing colours and physicality in painting, and the results of choice in the way landscapes are perceived. The works produced while claiming to exclude the artist’s emotions as much as possible, nevertheless show a faint hint of the artist’s own personality. Abstract landscape paintings, which are only a combination of colours, can indeed reveal the local climatic and cultural background of a region. What is the role of ‘landscape painting’ today? Convinced that the answer will become clear at the end of a simple, reduced act, the artist continues to ‘walk’ and ‘see’ landscapes.
