Ryoko AOKI + Zon ITO

Ryoko AOKI and Zon ITO began collaborating around the year 2000, while also producing their own artworks. They began exchanging footage and creating animations without plots, which developed unpredictably. Since 2011, they have been creating a video installation work titled “The state one reaches by the age of 9” while observing people’s emotional growth. In Ishinomaki City, Miyagi, they produced a series of works focusing on human creation itself by reexamining the materials, objects, and small techniques that exist in the local area. Since then, they have collaborated on projects and continue to think through creation while encountering various times, places, people, and things.
