Akio HARADA
Born 1978 in Osaka, live in Hyogo.
Ph.D.in Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts
Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1978. Completed the Doctoral Program in Fine Arts at the Graduate School of Tokyo University of the Arts. Awardee of the 2023 Exhibition Support Program for Creators in Japan from the Agency for Cultural Affairs. Major activities include "Cloud Ship" (1999, Normandy coast to Moselle Forest, France), "A TOWER OF OCTOBER" (2003, Yakushima, Kagoshima), "Marmor Project" (2005, Monterrey, Mexico), "Site Zero" (2007, Yunotsu, Shimane), "Recreate" (2020–22, Hyogo), and the solo exhibition "Three Recreates (Recreate)" (2024, Nishinomiya, Hyogo). He creates artworks by engaging with landscapes, topographies, and natural principles. Recently, I have focused on creating works inspired by the traditional Japanese techniques of "Kintsugi" and "Yobitsugi." Representative pieces include "Pla-Kintsugi," which makes use of digital fabrication technology, and "Chisho-Ki," which leverages the forms of natural terrain.
