HORIO Sadaharu×TOMOI Takayuki
Sadaharu Horio and Takayuki Tomoi began experimenting with the possibilities of using familiar “units” with metal as a form of expression around 2010, making “ordinary things” in daily life at times visible or at times audible.
Starting in 2016, they began working on the “1 Ton Sculpture,” which will be finished once 1,000 pieces of 1-kg artwork are put together.
Takayuki Tomoi has continued the project even after the death of Sadaharu Horio in 2018, carrying on his legacy.
HORIO Sadaharu
Born in Kobe in 1939 (died in 2018), a former member of the Gutai Art Association.
Horio’s unique philosophy led to the creation of his form of expression entitled “Ordinary Things,” where the “vibe” that always exists in a place is expressed vividly.
TOMOI Takayuki
Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1972, where he lives. Representative of TOMOI R&D.
While pursuing his artistic career, he engages with the phenomena labeled “art” from a variety of aspects. He treats the stage and screen as the boundary between imagination and reality to expand the essence of expression.
