Born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1975, where he lives. Completed a doctoral program at Hiroshima City University Graduate School of Arts. Completed graduate studies at Edinburgh College of Art. In 2017, he was selected as the representative for the Japan Pavilion at the 57th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia, where he held a solo exhibition entitled “Turned Upside Down, It’s a Forest” (2017). Recently, he has held major solo exhibitions at the Portland Japanese Garden in 2023 and at the Asia Society in New York, Kurobe City Museum of Art, and the Kurumaya Museum of Art in the city of Oyama in 2015. Major awards include the 68th Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Art Encouragement Prize for New Artists (2018) and the Takashimaya Art Award (2023). His works are on collection at museums in Japan and abroad, including the National Gallery of Victoria and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa.
