Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1971. Underwater photographer. Starting in 1993, he moved his work bases to Australia, Izu (Japan), and the Maldives to focus on underwater photography. He returned to Japan in 1998 and went freelance as a photographer. He strives for a style of photography that follows the rhythms of nature and causes as little stress as possible to the creatures he photographs. His diverse angles and use of color are popular, and his bold, graphic underwater photography captivates viewers.
Since the earthquake of March 11, 2011, he has regularly documented marine life in seas affected by the disaster. In recent years, he has also taken on the issue of marine waste, conducting workshops and installations across Japan.
