Soichiro MIHARA

Born 1980 in Tokyo, live in Kyoto
2006 M.A. Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Science [IAMAS]

Mihara creates open systems engaged with the world that employ a wide range of materials and phenomena such as acoustics, foams, radiation, rainbows, microbes, moss, air streams, soil, humidity and electrons in order to reinterpret them as art. Since 2011, he has been involved in the Blank Project, which examines the relationship between technology and society, both in Japan and overseas. Since 2013, he has been participating in a series of artist-in-residencies in 18 locations in 9 countries, from the Arctic Circle to tropical rainforests, from military borders to bio-art labs, from the center of art to extreme environments. Since 2022, he has co-organized "Let's Ride a Waves on 311".
