OKADA Hiroko
Born in Tokyo in 1970, where she lives.
1993 Tama Art University, BA in painting
Contemporary artist.
Her major works include “Celebrate for ME” (2023-), which uses XR technology to recreate funeral rites; “Engaged Body” (2019), which is themed on regenerative medicine; and “The Delivery by Male Project” (2002-2019), which depicts male pregnancy. She uses daring methods to create works of art that send a message to the modern world.
She also participates in many art projects. She leads the Alternative Puppet Theater “GEKIDAN☆SHIKI” theater company (2010-). She is part of the Aida Family unit (Makoto Aida, Hiroko Okada, and Torajiro Aida) (2001-) and the W HIROKO PROJECT (2020-), an art, fashion, and medical project that started during the COVID pandemic.
