Kentaro OKADA

Born 1977 in Okayama, live in Kanagawa
2022 Bachelor Of Fine Art (Sculpture), Musashino Art University

Using painted iron and stainless steel materials, he creates sculptures with net-like structures with landscapes as motifs. The shapes that serve as motifs are derived from things that he finds interesting in his daily life as well as scenes from his memories, which he simplifies and combines. He repeatedly cuts and welds together round metallic rods to form meshes based on pentagons. Circles, as well as shapes of the moon, mountains, etc., are freely combined and colored as single pieces with visible insides. He has continued to focus on sculpture using metal and stone since his university days. Since that time, he has been interested in forms with space inside, as well as work that emphasizes the interaction with materials. In the past few years, he has mainly worked with metals due to changes in his environment, but he continues to explore forms that emerge from the strange relationship between people and landscapes, as well as the relationships between various landscapes of all sizes, from outer space to dust.
