Since childhood, I have loved animals and plants and grew up surrounded by animals.
That is why I personally dislike human supremacist thinking.
I majored in sculpture at university and have been carving wood since.
When I carve wood, it feels as though I am conversing with life itself, which brings peace to my mind.
With its lush natural environment, Japan has been home to countless gods since antiquity, and the presence of these sacred spirits can be felt everywhere— in the earth, in the rivers, in the forests, in the wind.
In my world of artwork, all living beings exist as equals in mixed forms.
I admire the beautiful forms of different living creatures and create in search of something dear.
