Masahiro SUZUKI

Born 1985 in Tokyo, Live in France.
2015 Aix-en-Provence School of Art: MA degree

In exploring the relationship between "environment and gesture", I create site-specific installations in each environment. The creative activity according to the environment is a human phenomenon, which I call "Anthropoïésis mésologique (Mesological anthropoesis)".
To understand it, I engage in a back-and-forth between intuition and logic. Thus, the process becomes the core of my work, where sculpture, writing, and video performances are the traces that complement each other to establish an artwork. I inquire into "the scale of the individual", "transcultural nomadism", "vernacular languages, ecosystems, materials", while simultaneously employing both ancient and contemporary technologies with handmade tools.
I feel familiarity between my creations and tales or rituals. Objects and gestures become concrete when we reveal functionality, significance, or historicity. Currently, I am particularly interested in the concept of "affordance".
