Miyuki TAKENAKA
Born in Gifu, live in Tokyo
M.F.A. Tama Art University
He mainly uses transparent materials to create flat works and installations that incorporate light and shadows. She is interested in memory and recording and has produced works in recent years that record vanishing objects on vanishing media through the direct exposure of positive 35 mm film. She gently captures and records memories of scenes and objects that would otherwise be overlooked, sublimating them into works of art. In 2023, she held a solo exhibition at the 400-square-meter art gallery of the Ogaki City Suitopia Center, Gifu, as part of the 30th anniversary celebration of the facility sponsored by the city. She has also undertaken many commissioned works, including “Memories of the Milano-Za Theater,” a 10-meter wall display at the 109Cinemas Premium Shinjuku in the Tokyu Kabukicho Tower that opened in 2023, which features objects and records of the former Milano-Za Theater, which stood in its location, imprinted onto film. The work is still on display.
