YAMADA Ai
Born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1992
Finished post graduate studies in Intermedia Art at Tokyo University of the Arts.
Born in 1992, Kyoto, in a family of stonemasons working on shrine and temple constructions and tombstones. She graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of the Arts Department of Inter-media Art in 2017. She is a stone artist who focuses on polishing stones to restore their original beauty and placing them in their rightful locations.
FInstallations incorporating stones and drawings as her principle practice, she aims to evoke a viewing experience which invites the visitors to their primordial moment. Major exhibitions include “Setouchi International Art Triennale 2019” (Takamijima, Kagawa,2019), the “26th Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art” (Taro Okamoto Museum of Art, Kanagawa,2023) and “ARTISTS' FAIR KYOTO” (Kyoto Newspaper Building basement floor, Kyoto, 2024).
